Hypermobility/hEDS
Hypermobility means your joints move beyond the typical range of motion. For some, this is simply a trait. For others - especially those with hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (hEDS) - it can come with pain, instability, fatigue, and difficulty trusting the body in movement.
You May Notice:
Joints that feel unstable, “loose,” or unpredictable
Pain that shifts or persists despite strengthening
Muscle overuse, tension, or fatigue
Difficulty coordinating or controlling movement
Hypermobility is not just structural; it is also neuromuscular and sensory.
How we treat Hypermobility
At Fortuna, treatment focuses on building internal stability and control, not limiting movement.
Rather than relying on generalized strengthening alone, we take a more precise approach that addresses how your body coordinates, senses, and organizes movement.
Our treatments are highly individualized and may include:
Targeted strength training to support joint stability without overuse
Gentle manual therapy techniques or dry needling to improve mobility in areas that need it
Neuromuscular re-education to improve coordination, timing, and control
Body awareness training to refine how you sense and respond to movement
Breath and pressure strategies to support the trunk and reduce strain
Gradual return to activity with attention to quality of movement, not just capacity
We also focus on helping you understand why symptoms occur and how to adjust in real time, so that progress carries over beyond the session.
The goal is not to make the body rigid, but to help you move with greater precision, efficiency, and confidence so that movement becomes more reliable and less effortful over time.
